David and Dixie Dobra attended many of our camps over the years. Their children grew up at and were nurtured in their faith by Georgia Mountains CFO. On March 11, 2004, Dixie passed to her reward with Jesus, after a courageous fight with cancer. Dixie was well-loved by all who knew her and her talent at the piano. In her memory, David Dobra and others who loved her have established a Memorial Scholarship Fund which is substantially endowed. This money will be used to provide a scholarship each year to a young family or a young couple and/or some children who could not otherwise afford to attend our camp for the first time. This fund will continue to provide a scholarship on an annual basis until it is exhausted. Contributions to this fund will help it continue indefinitely. If you wish to contribute to this fund in Dixie's memory, please send your check made payable to the Georgia Mountains CFO to our Treasurer at 4539 Pineridge Circle, Dunwoody, GA 30338. Please indicate that your donation is specifically for the Dixie Dobra Memorial Scholarship Fund and provide return address information; a receipt will be provided for all contributions which require one. As with all contributions to Georgia Mountains CFO, donations are fully tax-deductible.
Pastor Eric Adu-Bediako and his wife, Edith, and their children, Duke, Prize, McSaviour, Zelda, and Elizabeth, were the 2004 recipients of the Dixie Dobra Scholarship. This fund is currently well-endowed, and we anticipate that it will provide for scholarships for new campers for many years to come. Our camp and Pastor Eric's family are both grateful for his attendance, made possible by the generosity of fellow Christians.
